Matrix SoBoost Color 2.1 oz is a professional concentrated hair color additive designed to customize Matrix SoColor and Super Sync formulas by either intensifying color or neutralizing unwanted undertones. Unlike a traditional standalone permanent hair color shade, SoBoost contains highly concentrated tones that give professional colorists greater control over the final color result.

SoBoost is available in two primary tones: Red and Blue. SoBoost Red is designed to intensify red, red-violet, and violet formulations for brighter, more vibrant results. SoBoost Blue helps neutralize unwanted warm or brassy undertones during lifting and can also add cooler tonal character when darkening.

The concentrated formula can be incorporated into compatible Matrix color formulations for anything from a subtle tonal adjustment to a much more noticeable boost in vibrancy or neutralization.

SoBoost Blue helps counteract unwanted warmth and brassiness. Matrix specifically recommends it when lifting to neutralize unwanted warm undertones and when darkening to introduce cooler tones.

SoBoost Red increases the intensity of red and is especially useful with red, red-violet, and violet formulas.

Matrix also permits SoBoost to be used on pre-lightened hair with the appropriate developer when increased vibrancy is desired.

How to Use

When using SoBoost as an additive with Matrix SoColor, Matrix recommends a 3:1 color-to-SoBoost ratio:

1½ oz Matrix SoColor + ½ oz SoBoost + 2 oz Matrix Cream Developer.

Process according to the instructions for the primary color formula. Matrix's current SoColor technical guide lists a typical processing time of 30–45 minutes at room temperature when SoBoost is incorporated into a SoColor formulation.

For increased vibrancy on pre-lightened hair, Matrix also states that SoBoost can be used alone at a 1:1 ratio with 10 Volume Matrix Cream Developer. For example:

1 oz SoBoost + 1 oz 10 Volume Matrix Cream Developer.
